China’s Media Revolution on the Train

Think about what you can do while traveling on the train? Watching TV, surfing on the Internet, playing net games and chatting on-line…Well, that’s not day dreaming. It’s coming soon on a train of dedicated passenger line in China.

Under the guideline of MoR’s strategic leaping-development plan, China is conducting large scale programs to construct new passenger lines and to speed up the existing lines. Until 2020, China plans spend over a thousand billion Yuan to extend the railway network up to 100,000 kilometres, of which 12,000 kilometres is dedicated passenger line. The number of travelers every year is expected to around 4.5 billion.

Obtaining government contracts can be the key to expanding both the marketing and income potential of any business. Mr. Shao will share us with his insights of the crucial role that the government has played in China’s amazing economic development and his experience of obtaining contacts from the nation’s biggest customer…

Xiaofeng Shao is an entrepreneur and senior executive with extensive experience both in the U.S. and overseas. He is the Vice president and CTO of Easyway Company Limited (China), a company that supports China’s dedicated passenger high-speed railway line with advanced technology.

Before joining Easeway, he co-founded EPIN Technologies, Inc (China) in 2002 and served as the company's CTO. EPIN Technologies, Inc. is a primary player in China’s new media industry that constructs broadband wireless communication platform for China railway system.

While his stay in the U.S., Mr. Shao co-founded ServGate Technologies, Inc, a leading manufacturer of high-performance, network processor security gateways. He was also one of the initial team members of Netscreen Technologies, Inc, one of the most successful companies founded by engineers from Mainland China. Mr. Shao was recognized as a successful entrepreneur by EE Times in year 2001.

Xiaofeng Shao received his BS and MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1985 and 1987 respectively. Currently Mr. Shao is a research fellow at the Future Information Technology R&D Center of Tsinghua University.
